Precisely calculated digital maritime boundary information reduces ambiguity in the spatial definition of a State’s maritime zones.
To minimize the regulatory overhead of maintaining a digital dataset of its maritime limits, a State needs to have access to fast, efficient and precise calculation tools.
Based on a range of enhancements defined by Geoscience Australia, Geocap built upon existing integration with the ArcGIS databases and automated workflows which minimized the need for manual interaction during baseline capture and the subsequent calculation of maritime zones. This significantly reduced the time required by Geoscience Australia operators to perform these tasks.
The plugin represents a quantum leap in the science of generating maritime limits and boundaries.
Seamless integration in ArcGIS means that large baseline datasets can now be processed quickly and precisely without manual intervention, which allows States to update their maritime boundaries on a regular basis.
